MenuByte is a restaurant management platform operated by Pamebyte. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect your information when you use our service at menubyte.app.
By creating an account or using MenuByte, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
Business name, owner name, email address, and phone number provided during registration.
Business data
Menu items and categories, table configurations, staff accounts and roles that you create within the platform.
Order data
Customer orders, items ordered, order totals, payment methods, and order timestamps generated through your use of MenuByte.
Payment information
Subscription billing is handled by Paystack. We do not store your card details — Paystack processes and secures all payment card information directly. We retain records of successful payments (plan, amount, date) for billing history.
Usage data
Login activity and general feature usage to help us improve the product and diagnose issues.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate and maintain the MenuByte platform
- To send transactional emails such as welcome messages, password resets, and billing notifications
- To authenticate your account and keep it secure
- To provide customer support when you contact us
- To analyse usage patterns and improve the product
- To comply with legal obligations where applicable
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on a secure PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon, with servers located in the EU region. All data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored or transmitted in plain text. Access tokens use short-lived JWTs to reduce the impact of any token compromise.
While we take reasonable security measures, no system is completely immune to breaches. We will notify affected users promptly if a security incident occurs.
5. Third-Party Services
MenuByte is integrated with third-party services (e.g., payment processors, hosting providers). We ensure these services comply with standard data protection practices. We do not share your data with them unless required for service delivery or compliance.
6. Data Retention
- Your data is kept for as long as your account is active
- On a verified account deletion request, all personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Order history may be retained for up to 12 months after deletion for financial record purposes, as required under Nigerian commercial law
- Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data at any time from your MenuByte dashboard
- Correct inaccurate information in your account settings
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you

9. Children's Privacy
MenuByte is a business tool intended for adults running food and beverage businesses. It is not directed at anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@menubyte.app and we will delete the account promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify all registered users of any material changes via email at least 14 days before they take effect. The updated policy will always be available at menubyte.app/privacy. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
